Saudi purge in the name of corruption

Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s (MBS) extraordinary action of arresting princes, ministers, higher government officials and businessmen under the pretext of corruption is the beginning of a painful surgery in the history of Saudi Arabia.  The surgical operation by MBS surprised everyone internally and externally.  If we look into the history of political, social and economic structure embroiled with tribal cultural system, this purge is certainly a shocking news to many.   A country which has been struggling for a decade without clear policy direction, financial mismanagement, known for lethargic government services and reticent business activities limiting to few highly connected rich individuals is now openly admitting that the economic crises is igniting political uncertainty.          MBS wants Saudi Arabia to move away from oil based economy to market economy, in other word, patronizing the population with g...

Criminalizing civil offense – Triple Talaq in India

If the idea is wrong, then everything will be wrong.  Theory formulated from bad Idea and its application into practices, functionalities and subsequent consequences all will be wrong and counter-productive when the nucleus of this entire idea is wrong.  Meanwhile general public will have little interest in scrutinizing the fundamentals of the wrong idea, but would eventually blame everything else, thus unknowingly will believe a wrong as a right and debate on its consequences only.  Yet another misleading of ruling class, especially considering BJP’s communal stand in Indian politics.  BJP government is keen to promulgate a new law criminalizing Tripe Talaq (uttering all three at once) seems to be an action from over excited and short sighted political hot heads trying to achieve two results.  One is to boast among majority community about their braveness of liberating poor Muslim women from the outdated and cruel religious laws and other is creating unne...

Women in India – Curious case of Hadiya

According to Dharma Shastra, “By a girl, or by a woman, or by a woman advanced in years, nothing must be done, even in her own dwelling place, according to her mere pleasure.  In childhood, must a female be dependent on her father, in youth on her husband, her lord (husband) being dead, on her sons.  A woman must never seek independence” Today, we are witnessing Dharma Shastra is being applied on Hadiya by none other than the custodians of constitution in addition to the investigation of indoctrination of her mind.  A 24 years old girl was called for personal appearance at the highest court of India to explain her position and instead of hearing from her, the consuls of various government agencies involved in this case were arguing against the hearing of Hadiya without completing NIA investigation.  The learned judges were about to call for the day even without giving a chance to Hadiya despite of several arguments by Consuls Kapil Sibal, Indira Jaising and...

Demonetization and black money

Image
The problem with most politicians are fear of exposing ‘explosive hallucination and negative perception’, especially when they are in power.  No leaders would like to see their words, actions and public performances are criticized or ridiculed by opponents and people in India.  They consider it as an offense and insult, especially if they are in power and cannot take it on their stride, instead, they will try to suppress the dissenting voices and alternative opinions. They are fully proud and convinced of their knowledge and wisdom that is superior to anyone and the given people mandate is proof of acceptance to do ‘everything’ during their tenure in power. Their balanced resolve once considered as their strength becoming obdurate and afraid of preemptive comments aimed to befuddle their goal.   In contemporary India, we have so many leaders surrounded by ‘Yes Men’ who don’t like to disturb the apple-cart and our prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi is no different....

Modi’s poor home work

Modi’s government has done very poor home work before launching surgical strike on black money.  The objective of controlling or eliminating black money is certainly the need of the hour.  On 7 th November night he announced the cancellation of 500 and 1000 currency notes effective from night and asked us to exchange with new notes from bank from 9 th November onward. It generates mixed responses and I don’t know whether to welcome this decision or worried about repercussions from common man.   Perhaps, accepted the decision as a bold and brave from Modi for the sake of the nation, but is 1.25 billion people can handle the transformation with shock?  The currency in our purse become useless, yes the validity of the currency is depends on the acceptance in market and therefore technically it is useless.  Indian citizen accepts the decision and patiently waiting for the banks to open and exchange their cash on hand and now slowly landing in frustr...

Who wants uniform civil code?

Why Muslims are vehemently opposing the Uniform Civil Code?  Why don’t let their woman have equal rights?  Why are they following outdated religious scripts?  Why are they not joining with mainstream life?  Why are they not accepting the law of the country? Don’t they know that the petition is filed by Muslim women only?  Are they special in this country?  And more and more questions are raised by Non Muslims.   Well, not all the questions are relevant considering questioner’s lack of awareness about the petition sent to the Prime Minister by Bharathia Muslim Mahila Andolan and the concept of Uniform Civil Code. There won’t be such barrage of questions if they know the crux of the matter well. The letter sent by Bharathia Muslim Mahila Andolan to prime minister and posted on January 1, 2016 at their website clearly demands a codified personal law for Muslims. I repeat that they demand ‘a codified personal family law for Muslims’ and are ...

Uniform Civil Code - Divide and Win

BJP government has suddenly taken up the Uniform Civil Code in the name of gender equality, harmony and progressiveness.  One India and One Law is the concept and has been heavily funded by some media companies in promoting pan India animosity among various political parties and communities.  One India and One Law can be catchy and media friendly to increase the TRP of television channels, but not even one percent of GDP growth.  Is One India and One Law is the forerun for One India One Language; One India One Culture; One India One Religion; One India and One ethnic, etc?      Media started discussing and debating the law commission questionnaire issued on 7 th October and we have conveniently moved away from surgical strikes and increasing terror attacks on border area.  Nevertheless, it is the arrogance of Law commission that prepared a questionnaire in an irrelevant and negative format like a school children survey questionnaire. I have...

Does your business know how to spy?

Flap of a butterfly in Brazil can create a tornado in Texas is a famous chaotic theory explaining the sensitive nature of business.    Too many small things or effects are uncovered in our business and in daily life let alone understanding the causes.  Everyday there are butterfly flaps happening around us and we gave very little attention to it, because, we always worry about bigger effects and failures.  Often, we fail to understand that the bigger failure is the collection of smaller failures that keep happening in our daily life.  While we may have one or two mechanism to uncover the internal warnings using strong business intelligence tools and holistic monitoring of data analyses, but we have very little control on external sensitive developments.   Knowing the business landscape and our company position or vulnerability is paramount to sustainability.  Most businesses fall in trouble due to failure in understanding the butterf...

Driving in reverse gear

We can, some have, except an idiot driving in opposite direction, but we are perplexed with the reverse driving in Indian politics.  BJP, the party is always at best to drive in reverse direction, better known as retrogressive force, now have a competition with RJD and JD(U).   SJP is waiting to jump into the fray soon when UP assembly elections are due.  Yes, for next three years we are going to witness the fight between Kamandal and Mandal.  If this is called ‘development’ spearheaded by BJP, then we need to produce millions of brooms to clean the country for next fifteen years.  It is all started with drifting of Modi from ‘development agenda’.  I have one or more reasons to wonder whether Modi has really drifted away or we misread the word ‘development’.  Today, the meaning of development, at least, to me seems ‘development of divisive politics to consolidate Hindu votes’.  Will Modi or Amit will take a pain to address the right mea...

Social Jungle

Image
Man is a social animal and true to this affix he made the society to be his jungle.  He always found ways to complicate anything he can touch and in the process he unravels new ideas and thoughts.  Man is a funny creature because sometime he works in divine mode and many times works on devil intentions.  Fun apart, jungles have no regulations and animals have only one rule that is ‘kill to survive’.  Now, the market is full of competing businesses with warfare tactics and effectively killing each other to survive.  Is it something to do with the imbibed characteristic ever since the first man Adam came to this world or behavioral characteristic emboldened through survival challenges?  Adam’s two sons had a bitter bloody fight for a girl and subsequently younger one killed the elder.  The bloodshed started from there and the rest is our world.  In social jungle, we exhibit the same characteristics of killing others using not swords, but wo...

Success is the combination of the hard work with smart minds.  However, to lead a team of hardworking professionals and sometime naughty smart minds, the leader should possess strong intellectual charms.  The capability to drive the team towards the objectives without messing it up while adapting various skills in composing a winning song is possible if the leader has the charismatic intelligence.  Because, use of those talents in the journey of successful campaign is altogether a different proposition as they will all be using different instruments to create a perfect symphony.   While the business leader knows how to handle hard working professionals and smart minds, the article is also about necessary ingredients for a successful advertising campaign.  Any successful campaign starts with defining the objective in clear terms and securing the resources including talents to hit the results.   The necessary ingredients are: a)   ...
